With a full studio at Troy University in Alabama, Brenda teaches all styles and genres of music. Her specialty is teaching vocal function and performance for pop and musical theatre.

Conference Presenter: National Opera Association 2023

Brenda will present the session: Preparing the Opera Singer for the Broadway Audition, featuring co-presenter Dr. Sahoko Timpone, on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023. This session will demystify the Broadway audition process for professional opera singers, singing teachers and collegiate opera students. The presentation will outline the differences in logistical, vocal, repertoire, and acting expectations when comparing Opera auditions to Broadway auditions. The session will conclude with a master class to implement tools to succeed in the Broadway audition arena. Click below to register.

Brenda is a founding member of AMIEA, an association dedicated to bringing the education and performance of popular music to schools at all levels. It is a community to share and connect with colleagues to further merge popular music with education. If you teach popular music in any capacity, AMIEA is for you.

Co-director: POPulus

Brenda is a co-director of the American Popular Music Ensemble at Troy University. The ensemble is part of the Music Industry program at Troy, in which students learn to perform and produce contemporary commercial music in an academic setting, in preparation for a career in today’s music profession. Brenda served as vocal producer on the track “Reach for the Stars” found on the most recent POPulus EP Imagine.
